We are all deeply moved by the consequences of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey. Although the scale of this disaster is barely imaginable, we are aware of the extent of the impact.

We are faced increasingly with major issues that do not end at geographical borders. The energy transition, the nitrogen issue and the climate problem. These are cross-border issues, so we have to tackle them internationally. In the Week of the International Student, Jacomine Ravensbergen of the Executive Board of Avans University of Applied Sciences talks about the importance of internationalisation.

Students of Avans University of Applied Sciences appreciate the atmosphere in the study programmes and the expertise of the lecturers. This was announced by the Keuzegids Hbo 2023 guide. This year Avans once again heads the rankings of major universities of applied sciences.

Last week was a momentous occasion for thousands of Avans students. Together with their families, they celebrated obtaining their diplomas at the Avans Diploma Festivals at Maaspoorthallen ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Breepark Breda.

Avans students Lisa Heyman and Nick den Bol had a dream: to plant a tree for every new Avans graduate. Thanks to their dream we are now planting an actual forest. 4,000 trees have already been planted and this week another 5,500 trees will be added in honour of the students receiving their diplomas.
