NSS 2023: inclusivity and lecturers are the strength of Avans
In general, students are satisfied or very satisfied with the teaching at Avans University of Applied Sciences. The inclusivity, the atmosphere of the student’s study programme and the expertise of the instructors remain significant assets. This emerges from the results of the National Student Survey 2023 (NSS). On virtually all topics Avans has a better rating than comparable universities of applied sciences.

In memoriam: Paul Rüpp
Yesterday we received the sad news that our former President of the Executive Board Paul Rüpp has passed away at the age of 65, after a brief illness. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer at the end of 2022 and, once it was clear that treatment was unsuccessful, he made it known that he did not wish any further treatment.

New wave of public transport strikes announced: educational activities at Avans will proceed as scheduled
Tomorrow, 28 February, and Thursday 2 March, a strike by regional public transport operators, means that fewer bus services will be available throughout the Netherlands.

Earthquake in Syria and Turkey
We are all deeply moved by the consequences of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey. Although the scale of this disaster is barely imaginable, we are aware of the extent of the impact.

Bus strike next week: Avans classes go ahead as normal
In the week of February 6 to 10, a strike by regional public transport operators, including bus company Arriva, means that fewer bus services will be available throughout the Netherlands. It is still unclear how many workers will take part in the strike and exactly how widespread the disruption will be. Train services operated by NS Dutch Railways will run as normal on these dates. Despite the strike, it has been decided that educational activities at Avans University of Applied Sciences will proceed as scheduled.
