What is Beyond Borders & datadriven organisations

In the first part of this programme you will find your way in dealing with people from another culture. Work together with Dutch students interested in other cultures and other international students to understand cultural differences and explore global dynamics. Enhance your language skills and broaden your horizons through real-life experiences

In the second part of the programme you will take a deep-dive into data-driven organisations. Data-driven working is the future. With this module, you will develop your data skills, underpin strategic decisions and form a data-driven mindset-essential for any young professional who wants to achieve success in his or her career.

This 30 EC programme consists of two complementary parts.

What you can expect in the first 10 weeks

Participate in workshops on intercultural communication.
Interview people who study or work abroad.
Reflect on your own culture and professional identity.
Improve your professional English communication.
Learn a second foreign language.
Study and discuss global issues (political, economic, environmental).
Explore the economics, politics, and education system of a country of your choice.

You combine on-campus workshops, group work, individual assignments, an online collaboration project with international students, and two excursions. Peer and teacher feedback play a key role.

What you can expect in the second 10 weeks

Learn which data is relevant for organisations and how to analyse it.
Visualise data in a clear and impactful way.
Work on a real-life case for Eindhoven Airport.
Receive guidance from experienced lecturers and industry experts.
Develop skills to advise organisations on data-driven transformation.

You learn how data-driven working supports better decision-making and organisational change.

Learning Outcome 1 – Global Awareness and Language

You build and maintain professional relationships in an intercultural context, demonstrate intercultural awareness, reflect on your own cultural perspective, and show knowledge of global economics and/or politics. You also develop basic proficiency in a second foreign language.

Learning Outcome 2 – Data-Driven Organizations

You provide clear and practical advice on how organisations can adopt data-driven working. You analyse and visualise data to generate insights, understand organisational change, and take into account data ethics and legislation.

Entry requirements

The programme is open for Dutch students as well as international students within the Erasmus Exchange Program. The requirements for enrolment are:

Propaedeutic (P) diploma
Minimum 45 EC’s from the second study year
English proficiency (this may be tested beforehand if deemed necessary)
Study programme relevant to the courses offered within the programme. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the programme, we would consider students from study programmes outside the normal disciplines; please submit enquiries to the programme coordinator. We do offer multidisciplinary projects where skills from different backgrounds could be relevant and applicable; please make enquiries to the programme coordinator.

Exchange students

As an exchange student, you will continue to pay tuition fees to your home institution. This means you do not have to pay tuition fees to Avans.

Other students
