From idea to action: organising healthcare differently
"Think big, start small."
How do we keep healthcare humane and accessible in the future? And who contributes to that? In the graduation track Health by Design, you will work on these questions. During a gathering at Landpark Assisië, one thing became clear: this is only possible if we collaborate across different disciplines.

Jeffrey’s story
To make this concrete, there is Jeffrey. He receives good care, but he also simply wants to live: do groceries, go out, participate. Our healthcare professionals do what they can, but Jeffrey also has needs outside the healthcare domain.
And that’s exactly where the challenge lies. Because who takes care of that? Only healthcare? Or society as a whole? His story makes it clear: care needs to change. Not just caring for people, but ensuring that people can truly take part in life.
Living together, solving together
At Landpark Assisië, they are already experimenting with this. It is a place where living, working, and daily life come together. “This is just the beginning,” say those involved. Together with partners, they are exploring new ways of living together. Think of volunteers who live on the site and contribute to the community.
What is happening here is also reflected in the rest of society. It is part of a broader shift in how we organise care.
Learning by doing
In Health by Design, you work in the middle of these kinds of challenges. You tackle real-life issues together with students, lecturers, and professionals. You learn to combine different perspectives and come up with solutions that you can immediately test in practice. As one resident nicely put it: “Think big, start small.”
Your role
Healthcare is changing—and new ideas are needed. In Health by Design, you learn how to collaborate across boundaries and design solutions that truly matter. For people like Jeffrey, and for society as a whole. Because the future of healthcare? You design it.
