Emerging Technologies Playground

Students from different disciplines within the field of technology, design and innovation collaborate in multidisciplinary teams that work for 20 weeks on solving real assignments, provided by our clients. This will be done in a facility off campus, in the Innovation Quarter of Den Bosch in surrounded by startups and makerspaces. This is an inspirational site where companies, governments, education and civilians gather to learn. You will be working on innovative solutions with the aid of internet of things and smart city, and also gaming, robotica, virtual- and augmented reality.

Multidisciplinary collaboration and personal development

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, in which every team member contributes to the project based on their own professional knowledge and skills. Combining all these contributions will enhance your solution. This approach requires professionals with the ability to consider problems from different perspectives. With the help of teachers, fellow students and supporting workshops you develop new knowledge and skills. The team members address each other’s professional attitude and individual responsibility. This means that apart from acquiring ECTS credits, you will be working on your personal branding, network and CV as well.

Working in iterations

As a team you aim to deliver a working prototype. The following principles/guidelines are important to keep in mind during the project.

  • The goal is to deliver a working prototype within 6 iterations. This is done based on a broad and open question from a real client;
  • This is done based on a design process starting with demand articulation, delineation through research among stakeholders and finally the testing and improving of the first prototypes;
  • You deliver results fast;
  • After every iteration you reconsider priorities;
  • At the end of each week you discuss the results of that week and what that means for the next week;
  • We work as agile and flexible as possible.
