“I’m a second-year student currently based in Breda. I opted for ESSET because I feel that the environment is 1 of the top priorities of this century. We have to take action and take it fast in order to have a clean and sustainable future for generations to come.”

“Being a student representative allows me to share information about this programme. I also would like to help you with any questions you might have about studying away from your country, why you should choose to do so and what to expect. I certainly had some questions when I was looking for my future university. So don’t waste any more time in contacting me and discussing your future studies and life at Avans!”

“I’m a fourth-year student majoring in Cross-cultural Management and Languages. My favourite subjects are not only the finance-related ones but also the ones dealing with human rights-related topics, corporate social responsibility and corporate philanthropy. Working towards the common well-being of everyone involved in the supply chain will always be more important to me than making millions in profits.”

“Travelling, meeting new people and exploring different cultures are what interest me the most. I chose the IB study programme because it gives me the opportunity to live, study and work in different countries throughout the course. It was definitely the best decision I’ve made so far!”

Avans offers many facilities and organises several social activities. Teachers are also very dynamic compared to my country. They are happy to help you out with assignments and to explain things again.”

“The Netherlands is a country you should visit at least once in your lifetime. You’ll be amazed by the crazy festivals and celebrations that are held here. Don’t worry about the cold because you’ll get used to it. And your bicycle will become your best friend.”

“Passionate, aspirational and ambitious to always be 1 step ahead – these are words that sum me up as a person. I’m currently in my first year and I can say that studying at Avans represents the most valuable step I’ve taken in my life so far.”

“Avans was a natural choice for me. As I searched for universities that offered programmes in the environmental sciences, geography and sustainability I found a true source of inspiration in ESSET. For me, my study programme is the reason I wake up every morning excited to broaden my horizon.”

“I know that climbing the stairs of life can be hard and that’s why I’m here to guide you. Let me share the secret key to these stairs to happiness with you. Join me and Avans on this journey!”

Irene Giacchetto

Irene Giacchetto

Country: Italy
Programme: Double degree in International Business
Languages: Italian, French, Spanish and English
Email: i.giacchetto@student.avans.nl

“As a double-degree student, I started my studies at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza before coming to Avans in my third year.”

“I have always been internationally oriented: I love travelling and discovering new cultures. These are the main reasons that led me to choose this field of study. I would recommend anyone to do a double degree because going abroad for 2 years teaches you a lot about the host country culture. You also meet a lot of international people that open your eyes to different perspectives.”

“At Avans I learnt what it means to run a real business. I’ve gained a deep insight into business management, marketing, finance and sustainability. I’m very grateful to Avans and to every person that has been part of my Dutch adventure so far.”

Marco Misculin

“After finishing high school in Italy, I decided to take a leap and see what opportunities for my future I had. I always loved the idea of taking a broken thing and making it work again, so I decided to take a bachelor’s degree course in engineering with a focus on maintenance.”

“Here at Avans I’ve been able to develop my personal skills and build a relationship with lecturers and peers. Working on projects with companies taught me how to deal with real-life situations and enabled me to get in touch with professionals from various fields. I found Breda the perfect place to live, study and make friends.”

“I joined the student ambassador initiative because I think it’s important for prospective international students to be helped and informed by students who’ve been in their position.”

“Having studied at Avans for 4 years now, I believe that I know virtually everything about it. I can honestly say that coming to the Netherlands to study was 1 of the best decisions of my life.”

“IB is not only about lectures and seminars. It’s also an amazing experience combining theory and practice, especially if you’re abroad. I had the opportunity to do a work placement in Spain and get insight into a company’s internal environment. I also did a semester exchange in Portugal, where people say that life is like a wave – you cannot stop it, but you can learn to surf. So I did!”

“My studies helped me accomplish my personal goals so I want to share my experiences and help you accomplish yours. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I’m here to help you!”
