Avans the number 1 large university of applied sciences

Weekly magazine Elsevier has named Avans the number 1 large university of applied sciences in the Netherlands in its survey ‘The Best Study Programmes’. Avans came out way ahead of all other large universities of applied sciences with a satisfaction score of 66.7%. Elsevier conducts an annual quality survey of higher professional education study programmes.

Elsevier and ResearchNed investigated 201 higher professional education bachelor's degree programmes based on the National Student Survey. In the survey, more than 230,000 students answered the question as to how they rate their study programme in general. The university of applied sciences that receives, proportionally, the most positive and the least negative ratings for its study programmes in response to this question comes out top.

Top study programmes

“Of our 39 study programmes, 26 rank in the top 3. That is quite some achievement”, states President of the Executive Board Paul Rüpp. “We expect to see even more study programmes reach the top 3 in the future. This is because the building that houses our technical study programmes in Breda is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment and renovations. Once this work is complete, the facilities there too will be state of the art.”

Seven study programmes at Avans University of Applied Sciences came top of their category this year. Ten programmes were ranked second and nine programmes came in third place. The programmes ranked top were Accountancy, Communication, Communication & Multimedia Design, Cultural and Social Development, Environmental Science for Sustainable Energy and Technology, Information Technology and Mechatronic Engineering.

Second place was awarded to Finance and Control, Laws, Public Administration and Public Governance, Building Process & Real Estate, Marketing, Health Care Technology, Applied Safety & Security Studies, International Business and Management Studies, Small Business & Retail Management.

Third place went to Business Management Studies, Construction Management, Physiotherapy, Human Resource Management, Social Work and Social Services, Social Educational Care, Industrial Engineering & Management, Mechanical Engineering and International Business and Languages.
